Welcome Acoustic Guitar Lovers
Own an acoustic guitar? Hi, welcome aboard. My name is Gary Clardy and I am very pleased to meet you.
I have an extensive background in engineering, woodworking, guitar playing, recording and songwriting. Guitar making and acoustic music are great loves of mine.
Thanks for clicking on www.my-acoustic-guitar.com.
I will put forth my best effort to help you fully understand your acoustic guitar, musically, mechanically and structurally on such topics as the following:
· How it works
· How to tune it
· Standard tuning
· Alternate tunings
· How to care for it
· How to string it properly
· What strings to use
· How to do simple repairs
· What acoustic electric pickup is best for you
· What acoustic amp works for you
· And much more
In the sixties I grew up playing guitar and doing carpentry and woodworking.
In the seventies came more music, more carpentry, and more woodworking, touring with club bands and writing songs.
In the eighties I came to my senses and studied engineering and received a Civil Engineering Degree as I built reproduction furniture to pay my way.
In the nineties I did construction management, songwriting and recording.
From 2000 until present I’ve done construction administration, lutherie and music recording.
In 2005 I started building guitar kits to learn lutherie and to become acquainted with the parts and tools involved in the craft.
After completing four kits I started buying components and raw materials to build my own acoustic and acoustic electric guitar line, Clardy Guitars in Burns, TN.
I have completed about 50 guitars ranging from 000 models to jumbo models and some cutaways for several musicians throughout the states.
It is my sincere hope that I can contribute and impart some of the knowledge that I have acquired in the past 40 plus years about the various components of the acoustic guitar to those that are interested.
Regardless of your knowledge of acoustic guitars or skill level of playing, you will find something useful at www.my-acoustic-guitar.com and leave with a deeper understanding of all the components, both musically and structurally.
This site is set up to work best from the top to the bottom. But go ahead, you can kick back and start with a topic of your choice. Let your fingers do the picking! Pun intended!
